Oranges, lemons and mandarins in Russian market in January 2008

From:http://www.freshplaza.com/news_detail.asp?id=15065 Author:Unknown View Times:times Time:2008-1-25

Quality was good and with the prices in range 1,06 – 1,09 US$/kg the last attracted the wholesalers much more. Turkish oranges were sold mostly in regions, especially good in Ural. In the south the Egyptian oranges were offered from 1,00 US$/kg level up, Turkish ones – from 1,02 US$/kg up. In Moscow a few Spanish oranges were offered on 1,75 US$/kg level but this price would not stay for the next week.

Any origin tries to participate on the market this season. It was the Moroccan turn in week 2. The market accepted the quality though the price 1,71 US$/kg didn’t look attractive at all. More or less the same level was set for small size Turkish lemons whereas the good large lemons could be sold in range : 2,08 - 2,24 US$/kg. Spanish lemons were practically not on the market.
The mandarins market has turned down to 1,88 US$/kg for Moroccan fruit. The main reason was the disbalance between large volumes of arrivals and slow demand after New Year.

Spanish clementinas from delayed for a week vessel were offered on 1,43 US$/kg even. Turkish mandarins were sold mostly in the south and in regions of Russia. Turkish variety Nova in Novorossijsk was offered on 1,45 US$/kg, Israeli Suntinos – from 1,55 US$/kg up.
