Serbia is increasing exports of apples, pears, peaches and grapes to Russia

From:lol.org.ua Author:Unknown View Times:times Time:2008-2-20

Serbia is represented for the third time with a joint stand at FRUIT LOGISTICA, reports Ivana Glibetic, Export Promotion Advisor for the Serbia Investment & Export Promotion Agency. Companies making their first appearance include Agrar Komerc and Zeleni Hit. Fruit Land and Juzni Banat, who export around 90% of their fruit production chiefly to Russia and, to a lesser degree, EU countries, are also represented. The main export fruits are apples, pears, peaches and grapes. Major apple varieties include Idared, Granny Smith, Melrose, Golden Delicious and Gloster. Fruit Land, an association of ten producers' associations, produces 20,000 tonnes of apples each year on 2,000 hectares of land. Founded in 1960, Juzni Banat is Serbia's leading producer of fresh fruit. Along with apples, the company grows peaches and apricots on 3,430 hectares of land. "The trade fair has been a success for us, even more so than last year", Ivana Glibetic says. "We have had a number of interesting discussions, for instance with visitors from Great Britain and France, Russia, and even Japan".
